XMen
Last night the family I am staying with discovered the movie XMen! It was so great because from 5 to 45 everyone was really enjoying the show. There were thrilling parts where Mickey was scared and there were love scenes where the girls were entranced and there were times when I sat back on the couch and just had to look at this loving family. Jane sat with the little boy on her lap and the two girls snuggled in together on the couch with their dad on one flank and their grandfather in the other. I thought how lucky I am to be a part of their world and how, in less than a week, they have already made me feel like one of them. I was recently reminded that the external structure of a family isnt everything - the chaos of where everyone originated and "whose" we are...its all just politics. The real heart of the family is what I saw in them last night, pausing their very busy schedules for some time together, to just exist as a unit. Thats family.

hey laura, i love your blog. you are an excellent writer. what a great gift you have. i miss italy already. i had to go to starbucks to get a latte today. i took sydney to c.m. to get a gelato and she said it did not taste right. i laughed. i made risotto last night. i still can't eat penne pasta yet. i have been enjoying itialian white wine from c.m. i sent jane and family a package today. they should get it in a week or so. i think you will like skip-bo. it is a fun card game. jane is a great card player. i miss her and look forward to seeing her when they come to austin. things are the same here. lots of rain this week which is needed. i am fully recovered from the flight back. it was no big deal. we had some very bad turbulence and tom's mom laura would scream every time we hit a pocket while decending. the immigration agent asked me if i was on the plane with the screaming woman. i told him i was sitting next to her. you would of died. john and i had a great homecoming. i miss you and i love your blog it is the best. just like you. Tell jane and family hello!
